The benefits...
Our society
is a real opportunity for people to get the most from singing.
We have a great musical director Edd Caine immensely skilled and fun to sing for.
Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music
of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication
with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. Our rehearsal
accompanist is to be announced.
The choir works with both musically trained people and singers
entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. Younger
singers are particularly welcome and we offer FREE membership
to those in education, whether at School or University. No formal
audition.
Experience the atmosphere
of a large choir when musical chords fall into place to create
magical harmonic sounds with your voice being part of that unique
creation.
We give great concerts, sometimes of classics
such as Mozart Requiem, St Matthew Passion, Handel's Messiah,
madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful
Noah and his Floating Zoo.
A need for more
singers...
Like all choirs however we need more singers to keep the choir
progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out
to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would
like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family
or because of a house move. Everyone is welcome (tenors are especially
celebrated!!). Explore this new website for lots of choir information...
past, present and future.

Brahms
Requiem - March 2015
Inspiring music...
We enjoy performances of many of the best loved classical choral
works, sung at a consistently high standard, and some with a
full professional orchestra accompanied by the finest UK soloists.
Inspiring leadership...
With our highly accomplished Musical Director, Edd Caine,
music-making is a joy from the first practice.
Inspiring history...
The Wombourne & District Choral Society was formed in 1929,
making 2019 our 90th year. Quite an achievement! And, during
this time, we have had just five Musical Directors! Plus, we have some lady
members who have been members for over 50 years. Amazing!!!
Inspiring company...
We're a friendly, welcoming group drawn from all backgrounds
and are one of the largest mixed amateur choirs in the West Midlands,
currently numbering around 90 singers, mainly from the local
area.
